ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Over the course of his nine years as Islip head wrestling coach, Joe Patrovich
has had nine Section 11 champions and a state champion.
He has yet to have a large-school state team champion, but after Saturday's
performance at the Union-Endicott Duals, that may soon change.
Islip completed an impressive run to the U-E Duals title, defeating top-ranked
Valley Central, 33-25, in the championship match.
In the semifinals, Islip defeated second-ranked Spencerport, 33-23, the victory
following a 42-21 quarterfinal victory over Johnson City.
Islip, ranked fourth in the New York State Sports Writers large-school rankings
prior to the tournament, will most assuredly ascend to the No. 1 spot in next
week's rankings.
"Hopefully this gets us (over the hump)," said Patrovich, whose Buccaneers are
10-0. "We thought coming in, this was a big step for us, and we have a great
group of kids who wrestled well."
Though the victory by Tom Magnani -- three-time state runner-up -- over last
year's state Division I 96-pound champion Lou Riggirello at 119 pounds, 8-6, was
the marquee match of the final, Patrovich noted a few other matches as being
crucial to his team's victory.
He felt Paul Vaeth's pin of Dave Prutzman in 3:20 at 130 pounds -- a match
Patrovich thought was a toss-up -- was a turning point.
In addition, Matt Egan avoided a technical fall by dropping a 13-1 decision to
Mike D'Amato at 112.
Islip led 33-6 after 10 individual matches, clinching the victory with Ryan
Patrovich's victory at 160 pounds.
"We're weak in the last couple of weights, so we had to have a big lead going
into the last few matches, and we were able to do that," Patrovich said. "Magnani
wrestled really well in his match, and I think that (victory) took a little wind
out of their sails."
Johnson City went 2-2, including a 31-25 victory over Mexico in which Bill Buran
broke a 25-all tie for the Wildcats with a pin of Kevin Miller in 1:17 at 215
pounds.
Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton went 1-2 and host Union-Endicott was 0-2.
