Ithaca, NY- The Alfred State men's wrestling team had three Pioneers placed at the NCAA Regional Championship, with one winning the title.
After a dominate day one, Sean Malenfant tallied two wins on his way to his second Regional Championship title. Malenfant opened the day with a 6-4 decision to earn a spot in the first-place match. In the first-place match Malenfant notched a 4-2 decision win over Jack Ryan (ONE) for the 184 Regional title.
Aaron Johnson finished in fourth place in the 285 bracket. After suffering a loss in today's opening match, Johnson rebounded with a 10-7 decision win for a spot in the third-place match. In the third-place match, he would suffer a loss to take fourth place in the Region.
The final Pioneer to place was Richard Morales. He suffered two losses today to take eighth place in the region at 141.
Sean Malenfant will head to the NCAA National Championship for the second time in his career.
