WAY-CO - Avon/Geneseo wrestling made a powerful statement Saturday at the Section V Class B1 Championships, crowning 2 sectional champions and sending 4 athletes on to the State Qualifiers.
Connor Duryea dominated the 103# bracket on his way to a sectional title, while James Chase battled through a tough 144# division to capture gold of his own.
John Handel turned in a strong performance to earn a 5th-place finish at 155 pounds, and Patrick Hanglow battled his way to 5th place at 215 pounds.
With top six finishes, the four punch their tickets to the State Qualifiers, set for Friday and Saturday at Haverling High School.
