Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport wrestling team hosted Niagara County Community College on Saturday for the first home meet of the season for the Golden Eagles. Brockport took care of business at home for the victory, 53-0.
Starting the dual with the 165 division, Brockport's Max Morrison set the tone for the match early on. He defeated his opponent by way of a technical fall, 19-3, in the second period (4:57).
At 174, Kiam Coleman earned free points for the home team with a win by forfeit.
Moving to the bout at 184, Avery Bustamante pinned his opponent in 4:27 to pick up another win on the mat for the Green and Gold.
Simon Lingle added to the team's score with a strong outing in the 197 matchup. The bout went the distance, resulting in a 12-1 major decision for Lingle.
Mike Welsh earned six more points for free, as Brockport's 285 wrestler won by way of forfeit.
In the 125 weight class, Brockport sent out Trevor Middendorf who dominated his matchup. At 20-4, Middendorf scored well with his technical fall in the third period (5:40).
Kolton Kelley had a tightly contested matchup against NCCC's Ethan Fletcher. Kelley prevailed for the Golden Eagles with a 7-3 decision.
At 141, Jaden Friel earned points for the Brockport total score with a win by forfeit.
Mason Mangialino dominated his bout at 149, pinning his opponent in just 19 seconds for the win.
Tyler Rossini also took the win in convincing fashion at 157, pinning his opponent in the first period (1:36) to finish out the meet.
Moving to 2-1 on the season in dual action, the Golden Eagles now prepare to host the SUNY Championships next weekend. The action is set to begin at 10am at the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC).
