DeKALB, Ill. -- The Missouri Tigers won their eighth consecutive MAC Wrestling Tournament Championship with 142.0 total team points as sophomore Brock Mauller won the 149-weight class championship. The Tigers had four wrestlers compete in Championship matches throughout the day.
Central Michigan finished second with 121.0 total team points and three individual weight class winners with Drew Hildebrandt (125), Dresden Simon (141) and Matt Stencel (285) each winning their respective weight classes. Simon also earned 2020 MAC Tournament Outstanding Wrestler as he defeated Cleveland State's Evan Cheek to win the 141 weight class.
The Championship witnessed eight different programs with an individual champion, led by Central Michigan with three Chippewas taking first place. Joining Missouri's Mauller, Kent State's Tim Rooney (133), Rider's Jesse Dellavecchia (157), Buffalo's Troy Keller (165), Lock Haven's Jared Siegrist (174), NIU's Brit Wilson (184) and Clarion's Greg Bulsak (197) all were individual weight class champions.
Host Northern Illinois finished third in the team standings with 90.5 total points, while Rider finished fourth with 84.5 total points and Lock Haven fifth with 82.0 total points. Old Dominion ranked sixth (68.0), while Cleveland State (64.0) was seventh and Ohio finished eighth (58.5).
The MAC also recognized Central Michigan head coach Tom Borrelli and NIU head coach Ryan Ludwig with Co-Coach of the Year honors.
