McKissick-Staley mounted a dramatic late comeback to earn a 9-7 victory over returning Fargo Junior Greco-Roman 6th-place finisher David Burchett of Colorado (three-time Colorado State placer, two-time state champion).
Trailing 7-3 after surrendering a passivity point and three turns in the second period, the 2026 Pittsford graduate refused to be denied as the clock dipped below one minute in regulation.
Pulling down on Burchett's head and spinning behind, McKissick-Staley could have settled for the takedown — but instead he launched his opponent for a four-point throw before adding insurance with a two-point gut on the continuation of the sequence.
