BATH – Two Avon/Geneseo boys grapplers punched their tickets to the NYS Wrestling Tournament by winning their Supersectional titles in Bath Saturday.
Connor Duryea (103) and James Chase each (144) dominated their weight divisions.
Duryea went 4-0 in the tournament pinning three opponents in the first period also winning by a 16-0 tech fall in the other match.
Duryea pinned DWC’s Weston Mehlenbacher (Dansville in the finals in 1:51 to improve his overall record to 37-2 on the season.
Chase was equally impressive as he won by technical fall in all three of his matches, including his 23-4 tech fall victory over East Rochester’s Steven McCann in the finals to improve his overall record to 36-3 on the season.
“I am very proudof the way we wrestled this weekend,” A/G head coach Andy Englert said. “The goal was set to get to the states, and they accomplished that by dominating their opponents.”
The NYS Wrestling Championships take place Feb. 27-28 at the MVP Arena in Albany.
