PERRY - After falling just short of a sectional championship last season, losing by 6.5 points to Byron-Bergen, the Cal-Mum Raiders made their mission clear from day one: finish the job.

Mission accomplished.

The Raiders dominated the Section V Class B3 Championships, capturing their first sectional team title since 2000 in emphatic fashion. Cal-Mum scored 254 team points, outscoring runner up Byron-Bergen by 83.5 points and leaving no doubt as to the top crew in Class B3 this season.

The Raiders placed seven wrestlers in the finals and crowned three individual sectional champions. All said and done, 14 Raiders earned top-six finishes, qualifying for next weekend’s State Qualifier Tournament at Haverling High School next weekend.

Individual Section V Class B3 Champions include James Patanella (150 lbs) Evan Martin (165 lbs) and Jackson Peet (190 lbs).

In addition to his sectional title, Jackson Peet was named the Section V Class B3 Most Outstanding Wrestler in the heavyweight division, an incredible honor, and his fourth of the season.

This championship caps off a dream season for the Raiders and serves as a fitting tribute to Coach Day, who is in his 20th and final season as head coach. Coaching many of these athletes since their youth wrestling days, Coach Day led the program to the top one last time and was deservedly named Section V Class B3 Coach of the Year.

Second-Place Finishers:

Jose Pedraza (110 lbs)
Jakob Bishop (126 lbs)
David Scott (138 lbs)
Colby Burns (144 lbs)

Third-Place Finishers:

Blake Sickles (110 lbs)
Greyson Brown (118 lbs)

Fourth-Place Finishers:

Jacob Curts (132 lbs)
Alex Cordoba Mejia (285 lbs)

Fifth Place:

Gavin McDonald (103 lbs)
Sixth Place Finishers:
Eugene Besok (157 lbs)
