Cortland senior Angelo Centrone (Mahopac) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1.

Centrone posted a 3-0 record with one pin, one technical fall, and one major decision for Cortland at the Red Dragon Quad Meet last Saturday afternoon. He opened the day with a pin in 2:10 as Cortland earned a dual win over Delaware Valley. He then posted an 11-3 major decision over TCNJ's JJ Giordano, the 16th-ranked wrestler in the nation by The Open Mat. Centrone finished the day with a 21-5 technical fall in 3:42 to help lead the Red Dragons to a dual win over Oswego.

Last year's 149-pound NCAA Division III national runner-up, Centrone is 10-1 this season with three pins, four technical falls and two major decisions. He's ranked sixth nationally at 149 pounds in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) ratings and fifth by The Open Mat.

Cortland is idle this week and will host nationally 23rd-ranked Ithaca in a dual match on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.
