ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's wrestling team hosted Utica University and Ithaca College for a tri-match inside Speidel Gymnasium. In their lone home match of the year and their senior night recognition, the Soaring Eagles defeated Ithaca 42-1 and Utica 44-0.
PURPLE & GOLD DEFUSE BOMBERS, 42-1
In Elmira's first match against Ithaca, they were seen posting a 42-1 victory. Joyce Rodriguez opened the scoring for EC with a forfeit in the 103 weight-class (5-0). Abby Duke (117) and Megan Edwards (124) recorded 10-0 tech falls in their respective weight classes to propel EC ahead, 13-1. In the 131 bout, Kali Bailey pinned her opponent at 2:30 followed by Gabby Bradigan pinning her opponent at 1:43 in the 145 bout. With a strong lead, forfeits for Tess Clabaugh (138), Talia Robles (160), Angelina Caban (180), and Marissa Crofoot (207) secured the 42-1 victory for EC.
SOARING EAGLES BLANK UTICA, 44-0
In the second match against Utica, EC was seen blanking the Pioneers 42-1. Rodriguez (103), Duke (110), Bradigan (138), Zoey Lints (145), Robles (160), and Angelina Caban (180) all saw forfeits in their respective weight classes to garner points for EC. Edwards was seen tallying a fall at 2:47 in the 124 weight-class followed by Alexis Bilka-Durdon with a fall at 0:40.6 in the 207 bout. Bailey rounded it out with a 10-0 tech fall in the 131 weight-class.
