Walsh Secures Third Place At The Pioneer Invite

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State women's wrestling team hosted and competed in the second annual Pioneer Invite today.

In the 117 weight class, Dianna Pineda placed fourth overall. After a first match loss, Pineda went on to win two consecutive matches by falls to which she ultimately lost her final match to place fourth.

In the 124 weight class, Alexis Haeusler notched fifth place. She would take a first match win by fall followed by a loss. Haeusler would grab three more wins by fall in her class. Anna Sheahan placed sixth in the same weight class, taking home a win by fall in 37 seconds.

In the 138 weight class, Brooke Walsh secured third place overall, with Ethe Hemphill following suit in fourth place. Walsh would grab a win by fall and a tech fall win to notch her title. Hemphill tallied a decision win 14-14.

Jyla Johnson notched fourth place in the 160 weight class, as she earned a fall win and tech fall win.

The Pioneers head to Collegeville, PA on Saturday, January 17th for the Ursinus Invite.
