Buffalo Competes at NC State Duals

NEWS

RALEIGH, NC – The University at Buffalo wresting team competed in three duals hosted by NC State on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls battled but dropped all three duals on the day.

UB dropped the opener to Mid-American Conference foe George Mason in the opener, 28-13. The Bulls then dropped a 32-6 dual to The Citadel and fell 42-3 to the host Wolfpack who rank seventh in the nation.

In the opener, the Bulls got wins by Kelin Laffey, Connor Jacobs and Magnus Bibla. Laffey earned a 4-0 win over Thomas Stofka at 165. Jacobs earned a 9-1 major decision over Donovan Sprouse at 197. Bibla earned the first pin of his career in the second period of his match with Herbert Billups.

Against The Citadel, the Bulls got wins by Rafael Knapp as well as Jacobs. Knapp earned a 4-3 decision over Owen Hendricks at 174. Jacobs earned his second win of the day with a 9-7 decision over Adam Ortega in the 197 match.

Knapp earned his second win of the afternoon with a 4-1 decision over NC State's Pete Winterstein. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the seventh-ranked Wolfpack cruised to the dual win.

The Bulls will next wrestle at Binghamton on Jan. 8.
