They would not only step on the mat for this area's first ever girls dual meet but they would battle to the end in an absolute barn burner of a match coming away with the close victory 30-29 over Hornell. The gym was packed and you could barely hear with all of the fans screaming. It would be a back and forth battle of pins and forfeits until the very end.

Coach Walker: "Sickness hit both our boys and girls team this week. That and multiple injuries meant we were just here to compete. I told the girls before the match today we focus on improvements not just a win. This team is made up of primarily 1st year wrestlers with a few who only have experience in mens folkstyle. We had just over a month to learn a completely new form of wrestling being freestyle. We worked very hard on the basics and it showed tonight. I'm so very proud of these young ladies and the heart they continue to show. To be first timers and walk out and do what very few have done before them is remarkable. I constantly tell them that they ARE the young women that future female wrestlers will talk about. They will pave the way and set all the standards! I'm truly in awe of my girls!"
