Alfred State Pioneers Secure Two Wins At Kings Duals

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Alfred State Men's Wrestling team went 2-2 at the Kings Duals this weekend, taking home wins against Kings College, 37-16 and Keystone College, 54-4.

In the dual against Kings College, the Monarchs found the board first in the 125 bout. Mason Drew, Richard Morales and Kyle Meyer all then grabbed wins to put the Pioneers up 15-5. Kings grabbed six more points before Brandon DellaPia secured a win in 165-weight class, followed by two fall wins from George Racz and Sean Malenfant, 31-11. The Monarchs only managed to notch one more win as the Pioneers recorded the dual win. Colton Hai also earned a win in the 285 bout by fall.

Against Keystone, the Pios controlled the whole dual, only allowing Keystone to put four points on the board. Jordan Busby earned a forfeit win to start the dual, followed by a Blake Burtis win by fall in the 133 bout at the 1:12 mark. Morales and Racz secured forfeit wins while Meyer, DellaPia, Malenfant and Charles Parker Trento all recorded fall wins. Hai closed out the dual with a forfeit win, 54-4.

The Pioneers will take a short break and step into the new year on January 3rd as they head to Williamstown, MA for the Williams Open, start time set for 10 am.
