EAST STROUDSBURG, PA - The Utica University women's wrestling team completed its day at the East Stroudsburg Open on Sunday afternoon.
Jazmene Molina (La Mirada, CA/Valencia) (124lb) was Utica's top wrestler, receiving fifth place overall. She dropped her second bout and followed that up with a victory over Delaney Bisaillon from the Hammer Wrestling Club. Molina was rolling as she received another victory against Linda Holeman from Western New England and followed that up with a third win against Riley Flickinger of Lincoln Memorial.
Molina won her fourth straight match against Shannon Govern from Lehigh University. In the fifth-place contest, she overpowered Megan Edwards from Elmira College, winning 10-0.
Braylin Jones (Payson, UT/Salem Hills) secured her first win as a Pioneer over Jada Stoneberg of York College. She defeated Stoneberg 10-0 in the 138lb weight class.
Gillian Mills (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) (138lb) fell to Morgan Edwards of Lehigh University and Maura White from York College. Lauren Palmer (Wingdale, NY/Dover) (117lb) dropped her match to Sylvan Parham (unattached) and Olivia Adams of Lehigh University.
Olivia LaPoint (Lake George, NY/Lake George) (145lb) had a tough-fought battle but fell to both Taylor Mead from McDaniel and Katie Palmer of Gannon University. Rebekah May (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (124lb) dropped her matches to Jayden Bazemore of Gannon University and Linda Holeman from Western New England.
Utica travels to Alfred State College for the Pioneer Open on Sunday, November 10 at 2 p.m.
