After a program overhaul in recent months, Starpoint is ready to start over.
With Michigan native Dan Tavernier at the helm, the underclassman-heavy Spartans are laying a foundation for future success, behind a "next up" mentality. https://t.co/7Jef7fASvo
AMHERST - When word spread that Starpoint needed a wrestling coach, Dan Tavernier wanted to throw his hat in the ring.
Being a youth wrestling coach at Revolution Elite Wrestling in Lockport and having two grade-school aged children in the Starpoint Central School District, Tavernier knew the Spartans were a "very successful program" for years at, not only in Section VI but across the state. And on Jan. 28, Starpoint became the first school from the section to win the Division I state dual and was projected to send a handful of wrestlers to states the following month in Albany.
