SARATOGA SPRINGS - When it comes to significant announcements, there's none more pivotal for the future of girls' high school wrestling than the recent revelation from New York. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) took to Twitter to declare its approval of freestyle wrestling for the Girls Wrestling State Championships.
This groundbreaking decision makes New York the pioneer in offering a scholastic freestyle state wrestling championship. The full implementation of freestyle rules is set to commence in the 2024-25 season.
