BROCKPORT - A week ago, Warsaw won a sectional wrestling title for the first time since 1976.

On Saturday, the school made more history at the SuperSectionals at Brockport State, qualifying three wrestlers for the state tournament.

"That's a school record," Warsaw coach Rob Hirsch said.

The Paddock brothers - Ian and Paul - will both be going to this year's state tournament, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Pepsi Center in Albany. They will be joined by Dan Reger.

Ian Paddock won the 96-pound title in Division 2. He won a 14-0 decision over Jamie Carpenter of Attica in the finals.

"Ian's been looking forward to this match since last year at the Attica Tournament," Hirsch said.

Ian was just a 7th-grader last year when competing at Attica in his first varsity tournament. Carpenter beat him 15-0 in that match.

'Ian wanted to repay the favor," Hirsch said.

At 145, Paul Paddock pinned Holley's Key McPherson in 4:14.

"Paul really dominated his weight class at 145 and it showed in the finals," Hirsch said.

The 215 final was a rematch of the Livingston Conference Athletic Association finals, when Reger pinned Hornell's Bill Drake.

This time was a lot closer, with Reger winning a 3-1 decision.

"Hirsch shared the credit for Warsaw's success.

"I give credit to the entire wrestling community at Warsaw," Hirsch said. "There are a lot of coaches and a lot of people involved. The entire school gave them a huge sending off (at a pep assembly) on Thursday. It's a community that loves wrestling."

Attica had back-to-back champions with Pat Hagerty winning at 125 and Dylan Rusiniak winning at 130.

Hagerty, who is going to his third straight state tourney, pinned Bolivar-Richburg's Andrew Taylor in 2:15 in the title match. Taylor had just one loss on the year entering SuperSectionals.

'Pat literally just dominated him and ended up pinning him in the second period," Attica coach Eric Romesser said.

Rusiniak won a 6-0 decision over Letchworth's Joe Hendrickson in the finals.

Rusiniak had missed half of the season after having arthroscopic surgery on his knee.

"Dylan's always been very focused," Romesser said. "His drive and belief in himself, that really makes him so tough."

In all, wrestlers from Wyoming County and Genesee County shools won the first six weight classes and eight weight classes in all out of 15.

"You've got two highly competitive leagues (Livingston Conference and Genesee Region). Both county tournaments get them ready for states," Hirsch said.

At 112, Le Roy's Zac Condidorio repeated his showing in sectionals by beating Nick Price, the defending state champion.

Condidorio won 3-0 last week in the Class BBB finals. This time, he earned a 9-4 decision.

His performance earned Condidorio the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the meet.

Mike Nevinger of Letchworth won the 103-pound title with a 4-0 win over Attica's Dylan Dabolt in the finals.

At 119, Byron-Bergen's Mike McInally won the title with a 13-4 decision over Le Roy's Chad Condidorio.

At 135, Byron-Bergen's Steve McInally lost a 6-2 decision to Alfred-Almond's Andrew Davis in the finals.

Pembroke's Mike McKendrick reached the finals at 152, losing to Tyler Sick of Hornell in the finals.

Holley's Rob McElwain lost a 9-3 decision to Palmyra-Macedon's Dan Rudy in the finals at 160.

While it was an individual event, Attica would have won a Division 2 team competition if team points had been kept after piling up 97 points. Canisteo was second at 92.5, Warsaw was third at 83, Holley was fourth at 78, Le Roy was fifth at 62.5, Pembroke was seventh at 56.5, Letchworth was tied for eighth at 50.5, and Byron-Bergen was 10th at 45. There were 35 schools represented in Division 2.
