When 65 wrestlers from Section V schools arrive in Albany, they become the largest group from the section ever to gather at the state championships.
Two wrestlers in each Division I or large schools weight class and three at every weight in Division II advanced to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships, Thursday and Friday.
Every overall section champion from around the state advanced to the high school season's final event, again at MVP Arena in downtown Albany. Most sectional runner-ups also qualified.
