WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Penn College will be a members of the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) beginning in the 2022-23 season.
The Wildcats join member institutions from Alfred State, Brockport, SUNY Cortland, Ithaca, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Oswego, Pitt-Bradford, Penn State-Behrend, and RIT.
"This is an exciting opportunity for our wrestling program," Penn College Interim Director of Athletics Matt Blymier said. "It will give our wrestlers the opportunity to compete for conference championships against wrestlers in our region, as well as the ability to earn all-conference and all-academic honors.
"I would also like to thank our former head wrestling coach Jamie Miller for his tireless efforts in finding this program a conference, and ECWC Commissioner Eric Summers for accepting Penn College as the newest member to the ECWC."
The Wildcats are the 10th team in the conference, eight of which also compete in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals. Last season, the ECWC had six wrestlers earn Division III All-America honors and saw 10 wrestlers qualify for the national tournament.
"We are excited to have our newest member, Pennsylvania College of Technology, join the ECWC for the 2022-23 season," ECWC Commissioner Eric Summers said. "Our championship, always a competitive event, is further strengthened by the addition of our newest member."
