RIT's Harkless named ECWC Rookie of the Week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Freshman Josh Harkless was named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Rookie of the Week, Thursday.

Harkless went 2-0 last weekend to help No. 17 RIT win its fourth-consecutive dual match with a pair of wins over Oneonta (42-9) and Penn College (45-3) at 197 pounds on Sunday, Feb. 13 at the Tiger Duals.

Harkless needed a combined 2:45 to dispose of his two opponents with a pair of falls. The freshman first pinned the Red Dragons' Noah Kennedy in 2:25 and then the Wildcats' Gabriel Kennedy-Citeroni in 20 seconds.

This is the fourth time this season (Nov. 18, Dec. 9, Jan. 12) Harkless has garnered ECWC Rookie of the Week recognition.

Senior Kaidon Winters was also acknowledged to the ECWC Wrestler of the Week Honor Roll after pinning a pair of opponents in 2:12 last weekend at the Tiger Duals at 157 pounds. Winters needed 1:50 to pin Nicholas Vandenburg (Oneoneta) and 22 seconds to pin Logan Ledebohm (Penn).

RIT wrestling next travels to Allentown, Pa. for the Mideast/South Futures on Sunday, Feb. 20.
