At just 13 years old, Carmel wrestling prodigy P.J. Duke eyeing state title

NEWS

CARMEL — Carmel seventh grader P.J. Duke is still a couple years away from starting high school, but he has already achieved more than most varsity-level wrestlers hope to accomplish in their entire careers.

An esteemed Eastern States Classic title? Check.

Section 1 championship? Check.

Undefeated record? Check.

Not only was Duke able to achieve all of those feats, but he was also the youngest to ever do so. Much like his older sister, Abby, he is a trail blazer in his own way.

Duke looks to create even more history this weekend at the NYSPHSAA wrestling championships. Although there has been a seventh grade Division II state champion, he could be the youngest to do so from Section 1 and state-wide in Division I.
