Honeoye Falls-Lima standout Anthony Noto wrestled his way to a fifth-place finish and All-American honors in the 2018 U.S. Marine Corps Junior and Cadet National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota, on Monday.
Noto, the 2017-18 Democrat and Chronicle Division 2 Wrestler of the Year and the 12th-ranked freestyle wrestler in the country at 113 pounds, won his fifth-place match by technical fall, 12-2. He defeated Zeke Seltzer of Indiana for a second time after defeating him earlier in the quarterfinals,13-2.

The win came after Noto lost 6-5 to eventual runner-up Daniel Cardenas from Colorado in the semifinals on Sunday and lost 13-10 in Monday's consolation semifinals to Colton Drousias of Indiana.
Prior to the semifinals losses, Noto cruised to wins in the first three rounds before upsetting 2017 national runner-up Carter Young of Oklahoma, 12-6, in the round of 16.

Also notable was Ryan Burgos of Hilton, who lost 12-2 to Corey Gamet of Michigan in the 120-pound junior freestyle consolation round of 16. Burgos lost his first match before winning his next four.
