Came across a tweet from New York State Public High School Athletic Association Executive Director Robert Zayas on Monday and immediately became excited.
Mtg w/ @NYSPHSAA Wrestling Committee today. Committee is interested in having a separate Federation Championship the week after @NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships. This topic will be discussed alot over next 6 months. Concern= @NYSPHSAA should have opportunity to crown own champ

So I chatted with a Section 4 wrestling guy in the know and received the lowdown.
Excitement quickly turned to disappointment.
Turns out, the proposal for the added Federation tournament would bring together champions from the NYSPHSAA, the Catholic High School Athletic Association and Public School Athletic League for a mini-tournament.
There'd be three guys in each bracket, so one guy in each of the 15 weight classes would receive a bye into the finals in divisions I and II.
