Binghamton's Schneider Drops Final Match at NCAA Championships

NEWS

ST. LOUIS, MO. - Steve Schneider of the Binghamton wrestling team dropped a 6-2 decision in his 184-pound consolation match Friday morning at the 2017 NCAA Championships. Schneider's postseason run ended with the defeat at the Scottrade Center.

Facing Michael Coleman of Navy, Schneider gave up a takedown early as Coleman accumulated riding time for much of the first period. Schneider was awarded a penalty point as the period ended, trailing 2-1 to start the second. Coleman earned a point for escape and another takedown shortly after, picking up more riding time in the process. Schneider chose neutral to start the third, as he was looking to attack and force action, but only earned a point for escape. With ride time, Coleman came away with a 6-2 decision to win the match.
