For many Section V wrestlers, winning a sectional championship is a proud achievement, but for others, it is only a start. Many wrestlers have dreams of competing in the state tournament, and hopefully winning a state title.

The only way of a chance for a state title is a victory in the state qualifiers on Saturday at SUNY Brockport, and for four local wrestlers, their state title dreams came true.

Mike Venosa and Alex Samson of Victor, Emerson Block of Pal-Mac, and Hammond Raes of Midlakes all won on Saturday, and with their win, qualified for the state tournament on the 24th and 25th in Albany.
