In many ways, the CHSAA State Duals wrestling meet at Monsignor Farrell on Sunday went according to form, in that the two-day tournament boiled down to a final match between Long Island power St. Anthony's and the host Lions.
But the expected close showdown was anything but, as Farrell jumped out to a 25-8 lead through eight bouts. Then, midway through the 113-pound matchup that the Lions' Jimmy Ryan was leading, St. Anthony's head coach Tony Walters forfeited the match, guaranteeing what certainly appeared to be a destined Farrell victory.
