FALCONER, N.Y. — Eisenhower left this weekend's Patrick J. Morales Memorial Wrestling Tournament with an individual champion and a fifth-place finish in the team standings.
Spencer Head's championship at 152 pounds led the way for the Knights (126.5 team points), who trailed only Harbor Creek (296), Falconer (259.5), Randolph (158) and Clarion (147) in the 21-team field. Head wrestled to a 16-8 major decision over Kane's Aiden Hulings in the championship final to cap off an impressive run through his bracket.
"Spencer's bracket was tough," said Ike coach Kris Black. "He was the sixth seed coming in so he had a tough run all the way through. Every match was tough, but he wrestled really well. In my opinion he would have been the outstanding wrestler — he beat the one seed and the two seed to win, so it was a pretty good tournament for him."
