ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

MARION — The Marion wrestling team finished off its regular-season dual schedule
Tuesday night with a victory. It was special to one family in particular.
Norm Mayville, a volunteer assistant under coach Tim Bantle, wrestled for
longtime Newark boss Jack Fisher more than two decades ago. On Tuesday, three of
Mayville’s sons triumphed as Finger Lakes West-champion Marion upended the Reds,
33-30.
After Finger Lakes East rep Newark rallied from a 21-0 deficit into a 30-27
advantage, Black Knights heavyweight Matt Mayville brought the home crowd to its
feet. Needing only to win his match, the senior pinned Eric Chapple with 23
seconds remaining in the bout.
Earlier in the match, younger brothers Josh, a 112-pound freshman, and Nick, a
152-pound sophomore, delivered wins. Josh pinned Brad VanDemortel in the first
period, while Nick slipped past Mike Frey, 5-3.
Matt Hasbrouck (6 seconds left in the first period) and Nick Hasbrouck (1 second
left in the second period) provided falls during Marion’s match-opening surge.
Bryan Bushart added a 7-0 decision over Tom Parcero, boosting the hosts into a
big lead.
Newark rallied behind Chris Bowles and Will Collins pins, Josh Kline’s technical
fall, Erich Dittmar’s major decision and Jeff Novak’s 8-5 win over James Bond.
Novak’s success gave Newark its only lead of the evening.
