ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Bolivar-Richburg locks up another league title
The Times Herald, Olean, NY

BELMONT — Matt Hopkins had just watched his Genesee Valley Central School wrestling team drop a 43-23 decision to Bolivar-Richburg Wednesday.

Yet the Jaguars’ coach didn’t sound like a coach whose team just got beat by 20 points.
“Even though we lost by 20 points, there were still some good matches tonight,” said Hopkins. “And there were two big highlights.

“First, my hat is off to coach (Rich) Schubmehl and the kids at Bolivar-Richburg. They have a strong program and their kids represented their school district well tonight.

“This gave them their fourth straight Expressway Conference title and that’s certainly worthy of note,” said Hopkins. “And for us, we did a little celebrating as well because Caleb Olcott got his 100th career win and he did it in front of a packed house.”

Olcott tagged a techincal fall of 15-0 against the Wolverines’ Travis Dorvit in their 152-pound match.

“Caleb is the first kid in the eight-year history of our program to reach 100 wins,” said Hopkins. “It’s a goal that he set two years ago, so this is a nice reward for all his hard work.”

Bolivar-Richburg (9-0) got key wins from Andrew Taylor (125), Dennis Smith (135) and Rob Morris (160).

“I felt Jeff Robbins wrestled Andrew Taylor as well as he could,” said Hopkins. “Taylor is the top-ranked wrestler in the Big 30 at 125 and Jeff stayed close in a 4-0 loss. I expect Taylor will advanced far into the postseason.

“At 160, Chris Green only lost by one point (6-5) to Rob Morris and he’s second in the Big 30 at his weight. I also got a great effort from Chris Waite in his 171-pound match against Dereck Dorvit in an 8-5 decision. He lost to him twice earlier this year and both losses were by seven points-or-more. And what made his effort even more impressive is the fact that he had a migrain headache in school.”

The loss dropped the Jaguars to 5-3.

“We have two more matches, Keshequa and Fillmore, at home before the postseason,” said Hopkins. “Even though we didn’t get a chance to share the Expressway title, we can still look forward to doing some good things in the tournaments.”
