Archives

E-mail corrections or additions to info@armdrag.com.

ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Byron-Bergen Central took the first-place team trophy and a Barker Central senior was named the outstanding grappler in the Genesee Region Varsity Wrestling Tournament hosted by Byron-Bergen.

The Bees captured three weight class titles and compiled a total of 96 points to earn the top team award.  Lyndonville was second with 79 points and Pembroke with four individual winners, was third with 78-1/2.

Barker’s Fred Leuer, titlist in the 138-pound bracket received the outstanding wrestler award.  The trophy was given in honor of the late Edward Morse, assistant Junior Varsity wrestling coach at Barker, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident earlier this month.

Region coaches donated a memorial plaque to Barker in honor of the late teacher-coach.  The plaque will carry the name of the award recipient.

Titlist and runners-up in the tourney are eligible to compete in sectional competition which gets underway Friday at Victor Central School.  Round one will be at Victor, with rounds two, three, and four slated for Saturday in the Rochester War Memorial.

Ten schools participated in the Region tourney.  Pavilion placed fourth with 43 points.  Barker had 36 points, Alexander 28, Kendall 25, Elba 13, and Holley 5.  The State School for the Blind also participated.
