Archives

E-mail corrections or additions to info@armdrag.com.

ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Fourth County Title

The Varsity grapplers, under the guidance of head coach Walt Teike, captured their fourth straight Western Title and County Championship in as many seasons.

The Varsity finished the season 8-0 in the league with a final 12-3-1 overall record. Although twice failing to beat the Eastern Champions, Eastridge, during the season, the '73 version of the "Big Yellow Machine" convincingly won the Monroe County Championship. The team produced three county champions, Ron Brongo, 101 lbs., Frank DeAngelis, 141 lbs., and Gary Baxter, 167 lbs., and also sent 10 wrestlers to the Sectionals.

The season had several highlights with the team going to Huntington, Long Island, to participate in the Huntington Tournament, and the Huntington Team returning to Spencerport's Christmas Tournament. (Panorama, 1973)
