ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Defending champion East Rochester annexed its third straight Monroe County Individual Wrestling championship meet yesterday, totaling 119 points, to outdistance runnerup Rush-Henrietta with 99 at Sperry High School at Rush-Henrietta.

Other team scores were Spencerport 84, Irondequoit 68, Eastridge, 61, Penfield 59, Pittsford 58, and Gates Chili 33.

The Bombers placed two grapplers on the championship squad while the hosting Comets finished with five. ER wrestlers on the team are Emedio Sebastian and Mike Duffy. Henrietta placed Al Solomon, Brian Campbell, Dick Grubaugh, Mike Underwood, and Sherman Graves.

Successfully defending section 5 titles were Ernie DiBella of Pittsford, Jim Nowak of Eastridge, Roger Bubel of Spencerport, and Sherman Graves of Rush-Henrietta.

The Most Valuable Wrestler trophy went to Grubaugh, who came back from a shoulder injury last season to grab the 130-pound weight division. He downed previously unbeaten Tom Gartland of Spencerport in the finals.

Dibella captured the trophy for most pins in the least amount of time when he registered three falls in his four matches. He chalked up victories at the 1:15, 2:55, and 1:31 marks in his first three matches.

The Section 5 Class A meet will wrestle at Corning Community College next Saturday. Monroe County will take the top three finishers in each weight bracket for the first time in its history. Last season only the championship team registered a sectional berth.
