The 1962-63 wrestling team showed a lot of pep and steam in compiling the match record of six wins, four losses, and one tie. All the high school classes plus the freshmen from the junior high were represented on the team. Junior Bob Puleo was the only BHS matman to enter the sectionals at Webster in the 185 pound weight class.

Captained by the only senior, Lenny Walton, the grapplers practiced daily at John Kennedy School under the competent guidance of Coach David Cargill. Except for two meets in the BHS gym, the team's home grounds were maintained at John Kennedy. Many experienced underclassmen will be returning to make next year's team strong threat in all weight classes. (Batavia yearbook, 1963)
