articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

C.F.A. Clinches Wrestling Crown
"Undefeated season." These were the two magic words which described the season
of the 1960-61 C.F.A. wrestling squad. The team romped through 13 straight
matches with nary a defeat to blemish their spotless record. Their victories
included wins over the impressive wrestling schools of Horseheads and Elmira
Southside. In league competition, C.F.A. won the championship with a 6-0 record.
There were six wrestlers who suffered only one loss during the campaign, Ed
Saxbury, Mike Mihalko, Dick Galusha, Jim Wheeler, Neil Pipe, and John Hoffman.
In sectional competition, C.F.A. entered nine men in the quarter final matches,
seven in the semifinals and four in the finals at East High School in Rochester
on March 11. Here, Jim Wheeler was crowned Section V champion in the 127 lb.
class to become our only 1961 champion. The baby Bulldogs were almost as
successful as they lost only one match to a very strong Elmira Southside team by
five points. |
