Archives

ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

This season's two-year-old varsity wrestling team, still a bit wet behind the ears, showed a great deal of improvement over last year's team. Although the matmen, under the coaching of Mr. Augustine and Mr. Alton Blake, won only two of its matches, the results of the losing meets were quite different from the lop-sided scores of last year.

Two C.A. wrestlers, Bill Cole and Bob Domm, captured the Finger Lakes Championship in the unlimited and 145 pound classes, respectively. Domm advanced to the Section V finals. (Academian, 1960)

NEWARK, Jan. 29 -- Bill Cole pinned Vince DeWind in 39 seconds in the final match to give Canandaigua Academy's wrestling team a 27 to 19 win over Newark Central on the Canandaigua mats.

The Canandaiguans led, 22-19, going into the final match which Newark needed for its first win of the season but Cole thwarted the bid with a decisive pin over the 265-pound DeWind.
