ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Madison High School's defending Section 5 wrestling championship team kept the
Rochester Interscholastic League championship at Madison last night, but had to
weather a determined East High bid to do it.
The Wilson Parkers, leading by three points on a cumulative team total going
into last night's finals, saw all four of their 1954 individual champs finish on
top. Had one of coach Jack Spencer's defenders dropped his crown, it might
have been a different story.
Madison finished with a total of 72 points. Runnerup East High had 69, while
Charlotte, the only other squad in contention scored 61.
Jefferson scored 40 points for fourth, while Edison was fifth with 29. Monroe
nudged out West for the sixth spot, 26 to 25. Marshall and Franklin brought up
the rear with 18 and 14, respectively.
Both East and Madison placed four titlists. The Parkers won the 95, 112, 127,
and 175-pound championships, with East winning the 133, 138, 154, and 165-pound
classes.
All three leading squads had five men in the competition. Charlotte failed to
place a winner.
Madison's big foursome made the difference. Phil Fidele, a lithe 85-pound
speedster, decisioned Pete Tabone of East, 11-3, in the opener. Bob Juliano
followed with a 9-3 decision over Jeff's Tommy Maggio in the 112-pound division,
before 127-pound Moses Gilbert put on the finest display of the night in
whipping Jack Flora of Charlotte, 9-2. Lou Fuselli's win the the 175-pound go
clinched the championship for the Wilson Parkers.
East, with Sam Randazzo, Nick Sanzotta and Bill Noun beating their
middle-division opponents, kept in contention all the way. Then Don Palermo took
a referee's decision over Madison's lone non-title entry, Ron Marchette, in the
168-pound final, scored another.
